What is Discover?
Discover is a five-week series at St Stephen’s where we explore life’s biggest questions and consider what Jesus says about truth, hope, and lasting life.
Each evening begins with dinner, followed by a short introduction to the topic and guided discussion in small groups. There is space to listen, to ask questions, and to reflect.
You don’t need prior knowledge of the Bible — just a willingness to think and explore.
What We'll Explore
Across five evenings, we will consider questions that many of us quietly carry and explore how they connect to the person of Jesus.
Week 1
What is life about?
We all search for meaning — in success, relationships, achievement, or experience. Yet the question remains: is this all there is?
Jesus spoke about life in a way that challenged and surprised people. Could He be pointing to something we’ve been missing?
Week 2
Who is Jesus? Can I trust the Bible?
If Jesus speaks about life with such authority, who was He really? A wise teacher — or something more?
And can the Bible be trusted as a reliable record of His life, or has the story been distorted over time?
Week 3
What’s wrong with the world? Why did Jesus die?
If Jesus’ claims are true, what does He say about the human condition? Why does brokenness seem so deeply rooted — not just in society, but in our own hearts?
Christians believe Jesus’ death was central to addressing that problem. Why?
Week 4
Is there an afterlife?
If Jesus died for a reason, what about His resurrection? Did He truly rise from the dead?
And if so, what does that mean for death, hope, and the future?
Week 5
What is a Christian?
If these things are true, how should we respond? What does it mean to trust Jesus — not just in theory, but in everyday life?
Is Christianity about religion, or about receiving grace and beginning a new life?
